News / Islam and Christianity talk
A TALK about Islam and its connections to Christianity is being held next month in Lerwick.
Dr Lameh Fananapazir, who wrote the book Islam at the Crossroads, will appear at the Shetland Library on 11 April.
The talk, entitled Christianity & Islam – Points of Unity & Misunderstanding, will be hosted by the Shetland Inter Faith group.
Fananapazir wrote his book out of a “curiosity concerning the root causes of religious fanaticism”.
Like the Inter Faith group, the doctor has a “deep desire to promote understanding between people of different faiths”.
Fananapazir is currently working as a cardiologist and electrophysiologist in the US and he has written hundreds of medical articles.
For two years he was based in Israel, where he worked as director of health services at the Baha’i World Centre and visiting professor of molecular genetics at Technion, Israel Institute of Technology.
