News / Power off again in Unst

OVER 500 properties in Unst lost electricity overnight in what was the second power cut in the isles in a matter of days.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks said on Tuesday morning that all but 13 customers had their power restored, with engineers hoping to fix the problem by midday.

A total of 543 properties lost power at around 2.50am but an employee living in Unst managed to reduce that number overnight.

A team of engineers took a ferry to Unst at 8.30am to investigate the cause of the cut and restore supply to all properties.
