News / Elaine’s image could see Socks star on Countryfile calendar cover
SHETLAND photographer Elaine Tait’s image of one of the islands’ most famous ponies has been selected for inclusion in next year’s BBC Countryfile calendar.
The public are currently being asked to vote on which of the 12 images should adorn the cover of the 2017 calendar, with voting closing on Sunday (4 September).
Elaine’s image, entitled ‘Shetland Smiler’, features Socks – the moonwalking pony who starred in adverts shot back in 2013 for mobile phone company Three – giving a heart-warming display of his teeth against a scenic, rugged coastal backdrop.
Thousands of viewers submit images to Countryfile each year before they are whittled down to 12. The proceeds of the calendar go to Children in Need.
You can vote for Elaine’s image by phoning 09011 98 90 07 before 23:59 on Sunday.
