News / Swiss photographer visit
A SWISS photography student is visiting Shetland until the end of the month to portray the islands and its inhabitants.
Corinna Guthknecht studies photo journalism at the University of Hanover in Germany.
She visited Scotland for three months prior to the 2014 independence referendum, but the student said she always wanted to come back to visit the more remote parts of the country.
As part of course work that requires her to create a ‘foreign reportage’, Guthknecht has now travelled to Shetland.
“The aim is to get a feel for the place and to meet as many people as possible. I am interested in what drives local people and what they do for a living,” she said.
“When visiting Scotland two years ago many people told me about Shetland, a place you hardly ever hear about as it is so far up north. That’s why I thought it would be good to visit Shetland.
“Since I am from Switzerland, I like small place and slightly remote places.”
After arriving earlier this week, and retrieving her luggage a day later, Guthknecht would now like to hear from anyone interested in getting involved either by helping with contacts or being portrayed.
She can be contacted by e-mail: corinna.guthknecht@gmail.com
