Letters / What does it mean in English?

“Sturgeon said the SNP was committed to finding a solution that puts “downward pressure” on fares” (SN, 5/04/16)

What does this actually mean in English? It is spin, it is waffle. So how precisely to you put “downward pressure” on fares? What does that look like? Getting an iron out and flattening a ticket?

Announcing that you intend to put “downward pressure” on fares is NOT the same as saying you will reduce the cost of fares and let’s face it, the SNP have had enough opportunity to do it if they really wanted to; just how many years in power does it take to reduce fares?

There is also no mention of the fact that any reduction in costs to the user will not be at the cost of a reduced quality of service.

Here’s to the SNP losing some seats in May, they certainly are not getting my vote.
