News / Man denies knife crime

A THIRTY seven year old man has denied drawing a knife and assaulting another man in his own home.

William Gillespie, of 8 Stanegarth, Lerwick, is accused of grabbing the man by the neck, pinning him against a wall and presenting a knife at him at the same address on Sunday (13 September).

Gillespie pleaded not guilty to the charge when he appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

He was granted bail with a special condition attached that he must not approach the complainer.

The matter will go to trial on 21 January, with an intermediate diet on 6 January.
