News / Salmon farm to the rescue

A SALMON farm had to come the assistance of a yacht on Tuesday after it fouled its propellor.

Shetland coastguard were alerted at around midday after receiving a call that the 46-foot Alba, which had four people on board, was in trouble after coming in contact with a buoy in Vidlin Voe.

Coastguard assistance was requested, but a nearby Scottish Sea Farms boat was sent out with a diver to help.

The vessel’s propellor was cleared following an inspection and the yacht then continued its passage to Bergen.

The incident was concluded at around 6.45pm.
