A SHETLAND chippie has been shortlisted for two awards at the National Fish & Chips Awards 2013, organised by seafood agency Seafish.
Carlyn Kearney of Frankie’s Fish & Chips, in Brae, will now go up against four other contenders to compete for the title of young fish frier of the year.
Meanwhile the popular fast food restaurant’s owner Valerie Johnson is one of only three shortlisted for the staff training and development award.
Having entered two years in a row Kearney hopes, that this time round she will win the title.
“Each year I’ve worked harder, so to be recognised is a great personal achievement, especially as there are so many new contenders who enter the category each year with new ideas.
“I’ve been ‘top girl’ and now I really want to be the best in Britain,” she said.
Frankie’s manager John Gold added: “This is our third year in the final and we’re of course delighted to make the shortlist.
“It has taken a lot of effort to get the training program where it is today and we’ve all invested a lot. For us, training is a constant process and listening to customer feedback is an absolute must.”
The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony in the Lancaster London Hotel, on 24 January 2013.
