News / Local pupils await exam results
MORE than 600 secondary pupils in Shetland await the arrival of the all important exam results on Tuesday with a mixture of anticipation and anxiety.
Those who have signed up to receive their results by text or email should do so between 8am and 9am, with the rest getting them in the post throughout the day.
Meanwhile, pupils have already been congratulated by education secretary Mike Russell for achieving high marks.
The Scottish government said that:

Overall pass rates for Advanced Highers increased by 0.8 per cent to 80.1 per cent in 2012;

Overall pass rates for Highers has increased by 1.7 per cent to 76.9 per cent;

Overall pass rates for Intermediate Level One increased by 0.1 per cent to 76.1 per cent;
-
Overall pass rates for Intermediate Level Two decreased by 0.1 per cent to 80.2 per cent;
-
Overall pass rates for Standard Grades up 0.4 per cent to 98.9 per cent;
“Behind today’s statistics are thousands of individual young people, each with their own set of results and ambitions for the future. Today is a day to celebrate their achievements,” the minister said.
A spokesman for Shetland Islands Council said that schools in the isles were prepared to discuss results with pupils who had any concerns.
