News / Emma gets silver
SHETLAND athlete Emma Leask became the second ever islander to win a medal at Scottish National Senior Athletics Championships held in Glasgow last weekend when she won silver in the 800 metres in a time of 2:14:07.
The 18 year old said: “It was quite a windy day and times were down but I was really delighted to get the silver medal.
“This is my second big race this season; two weeks ago was in Manchester and my time today is better.
“I have been in Guernsey since August and have put in some hard athletics training over the last months. I was invited to train with their athletics club after the Island Games and I would like to thank Delta Marine in Shetland for their sponsorship.”
