News / Gym trip

SHETLAND Gymnastics Club left on the boat on Thursday with 26 gymnasts, coaches and parents to attend the UKs’ biggest national display festival GYMFEST in Irvine in Ayrshire.

Over the next three days the group will perform their latest routine “Welcome To The Jungle” to over 2,000 gymnasts and 1,500 spectators.

The Scottish Gymnastics event is attended by clubs from all over Great Britain to showcase their talents.

The gymnasts will also get the invaluable experience of training in a purpose built training facility at Inverclyde in Largs where they will be able to try out skills they cannot learn in Shetland due to the lack of equipment.

The club is actively seeking it’s own premises in order to purchase such equipment so the gymnasts can train to a standard necessary to compete nationally and at Island Games.
