News / Noisy neighbours

POLICE in Shetland are reminding local people to think about their neighbours when turning up their music or TV.

Chief inspector Angus MacInnes said on Monday that officers had to deal with 10 noise-related calls during the weekend, most of them in Lerwick.

The area commander said that those calls amounted to almost 15 percent of calls officers had to deal with during the 48 hours since Friday night.

“That’s a big chunk of officers’ time,” he said, adding: “We are not saying: ‘Don’t have fun’. We are saying: ‘When you have fun consider the interests of others’.”
