JULIAN Okroj won seven gold medals from seven races at Aberdeen Sports Village over the weekend in the second round of north district age group swimming championships.
Shetland Amateur Competitive Swimming Club (Hurricanes) and Delting Dolphins took a combined team of 14 swimmers down, with Okroj securing the north district trophy for the most points scored in his age group.
He also broke the Shetland 15/16 record in the 100m backstroke.
Lockie Bullough reached three finals and earned two bronze medals, breaking the Shetland 15/16 record in the 50m butterfly.
Ross Drakeford reached the final of the 100m breaststroke, achieving personal bests across all four races, while Stella Okroj took bronze in the 50m backstroke as well as recording PBs in every event.
Sophia Cheatle improved her times in all races, reaching the finals of the 50m backstroke and 100m freestyle, while Ella Winks produced an impressive six second best in the final of the 50m breaststroke.
Ruaridh Chittick made significant improvements in both the 100m backstroke and 50m butterfly, and Camryn Cheyney achieved personal bests in most races.
Molly Garrick achieved long‑course personal bests across six races, while Eve Moncrieff did likewise.
Elsie Peterson delivered a strong swim in the 200m breaststroke and Heidi Simpson achieved long‑course personal bests in all her events.
Ellie Thompson completed a demanding programme, finishing sixth in the 1,500m freestyle and setting personal bests in four other races.
Hurricanes and Delting Dolphins thanked NorthLink Ferries, the National Lottery and SIC athlete travel award scheme for their sponsorship.
SOUTH MAINLAND swimmer Archie Flaws (12) also was the top swimmer in the 11-13 age group in Aberdeen.
Flaws was the winner of the Sam Muir quaich after picking up gold medals across four races, and a silver in another.
He becomes the third South Mainland Amateur Swimming Club representative to win the trophy.

Another four swimmers from the club were at the event, with Jenny Adamson earning long course PBs in six races.
The club thanked Ness Engineering and Island Fish for their ongoing sponsorship.
RICHARD Hughson was the winner of the final darts grand prix of the season at Whalsay Boating Club on Saturday.
Forty four players entered, with the final intercounty ranking points of the season on offer.
Stuart Paul saw off Frank Watt 4-1 in the quarter-finals, with Neal Redfern beating Kyle Tait 4-2 and both Hughson beating John Philip Sandison, and Ryan Inkster defeating Aiden Couper, in 4-3 scorelines.
Last leg deciders were needed in both semi-finals, with Paul and Hughson triumphing over Inkster and Redfern respectively.
Hughson raced into a 5-0 lead in the final, and was able to see off Paul 6-2 to claim the title.
Alongside the men’s competition six ladies competed for the shield in a round-robin competition, with Melanie Scott coming out on top to triumph.
Shetland Darts Association thanked Whalsay Boating club for hosting the competition.
SHETLAND Indoor Bowling Club recently got underway with its annual men’s singles and pairs events, as well as mixed pairs.
In the first round of the singles, James Nicol, Angus Ward, Ian Leiper and Alex Elphinstone beat Roy Cumming, Eric Muir, Alan Smith and Ian Pottinger respectively.
Colin Bain beat Scott Uren, Allan Bruce saw off Noel Kelly, Andrew Bain beat John Sharp and Willie Coutts received a bye.
In the men’s pairs, Allan Bruce and Alex Elphinstone, Ian Leiper and Ian Pottinger, Colin Bain and Noel Kelly, and Willie Coutts and James Nicol are through to the semi-finals.
And in the mixed pairs, Colin Bain and Christine Donald, Andrew Bain and Margaret Johnston, Willie Coutts and Lynne Arcus, and Roy Cumming and Rosie Jamieson will contest the semi-finals.
The club also hosted its Jamieson pairs competition recently, attracting a strong entry.
The top two teams from each group progressed to the semi-finals, with Willie Coutts and Eric Muir, Rosie Jamieson and John Sharp, Ian Leiper and Amanda Sinclair, and Alex Elphinstone and Noel Kelly through.
Elphinstone and Kelly beat Coutts and Muir 10-1, while Jamieson and Sharp only beat Leiper and Sinclair on ends won after a 7-7 draw to make the final.
It was Jamieson and Sharp who showed their class to win 7-4 and to claim the victory.
