Transport / Daggri makes return after spending last two weeks out of service
THE YELL ferry Daggri is back in action today (Wednesday) after being ruled out of service for a fortnight with a technical problem.
The Yell Sound ferry service has been running with a single vessel after a fault was identified in one of the Daggri’s engine control modules.
Shetland Islands Council’s ferry and airport operations manager Andrew Inkster said a spare part had to be ordered from the manufacturer in Finland.
“The part arrived yesterday and repairs were completed later in the day,” he said this morning (Wednesday).
After some sea trials she was put back in service this morning.
However, it will not be long before the Daggri is taken out of service again for its scheduled period in dry dock, which is due to cover most of March.
The technical problem on the Daggri comes in addition to Bluemull Sound running with a single vessel to a dry docking timetable.
Shetland Islands Council has previously apologised for any inconvenience caused.
