Education / All schools will open tomorrow, SIC confirms

SHETLAND Islands Council has confirmed that all schools will be open tomorrow (Thursday).

All schools were closed on Monday and Tuesday due to the wintry weather, with some reopening today.

With road conditions remaining poor in some places, there will be some changes to school transport tomorrow morning.

The routes affected are likely to be those for Anderson High School, Aith Junior High School and the Hamnavoe and Sound primary schools.

Parents and carers are asked to check the school transport voicebank for any updates on 01595 745743.

The council said overnight and morning temperatures will be close to freezing again and so ice is likely to form on untreated surfaces, such as footpaths and pavements.

Pedestrians and drivers are asked to take care on footpaths and roads tomorrow morning.

Due to the weather conditions, parents and carers are responsible for deciding whether to send their children to school.
