Community / Jamieson’s crowned Christmas window display champions
JAMIESON’S Knitwear have been crowned winners of Living Lerwick’s Christmas window display competition after a tightly fought contest this year.
The knitwear shop sealed the public vote after creating an incredibly detailed town centre featuring a number of fictitious shops resembling those on Commercial Street, including ‘Yulecraft’ and ‘Mistletoe Stems’.
Blyde Welcome finished in second place after the votes were counted, with Avril Thomson Smith in third.
Five local shoppers have also been rewarded for shopping local this Christmas with the Spend at da Street loyalty campaign.
Yvonne Pirraglia, Denise Bell, Margarat Strachan, T. A. Fullerton and Fiona Byrne-McCombie all received gift packages worth £175 donated by the businesses taking part in the scheme.
Completed cards can still be submitted and will go into the January draw with a chance to win up to three vouchers worth £50 each for town centre businesses.
Living Lerwick project manager Emma Miller said it had been a “really busy time” at the street in the lead up to Christmas.
“The area is looking fantastic thanks to the incredible effort made by the businesses with their windows,” she said.
“The lights are also looking amazing and our thanks go to Ness Engineering for their hard work there.
“From all the businesses in the town centre, I’d like to say thanks to the customers who support local – now and through the year – and a very merry Christmas to one and all.”
Festive opening times into the new year are posted on the Living Lerwick website.
