However Dundee rallied and would level the game up by winning set two 25-19.
Thomas Clark was dominant at the net in set three, repeatedly stoppingDundee’s hitters, and Shetland looked to lead the game again.
But Dundee found another gear late on, attacking with greater force and edging the set 25–23.
With momentum firmly on their side, Dundee carried their intensity into the final stage, unleashing a relentless combination of strong attacks and solid defence.
Shetland fought hard to remain in the contest but were unable to overpower the resurgent Dundee, who claimed the final set and a 3-1 victory.
In match two Lenzie put early pressure on Shetland and built up an early lead before the blues began to claw their way back into contention.
Bobby Laurenson’s strong serving helped Shetland reel the score back to 18-17, and soon the two teams were locked together at 24-24.
However it was Lenzie who secured the first set, edging the blues out 27-25 after a tiebreaker.
They used that momentum to open up a five point lead in set two and went on to comfortably clinch it 25-15 to leave them on the brink of victory.
And they carried that dominance into set three, moving 14-5 ahead before Ben Laurenson called a time-out to rally the troops.
The response was positive but Lenzie continued to find space in the Shetland defence, eventually sealing the win with a 25-20 score and 3-0 victory.
