Sport / Top of the world – Shauna and Dhanni Moar smash records in remarkable weekend

Shauna and Dhanni Moar both set new World records in a remarkable weekend.

STRONG siblings Dhanni and Shauna Moar both recorded world records at an event in Paisley over the weekend, in a stunning double success.

Dhanni came away with an all-time overall world record of 520kg in the Viking deadlift, as well as a new Scottish record of 456kg in the trap bar deadlift.

For Shauna, it was a massive lift of 280kg in the trap bar lift which saw her take the overall world record.

As well as that, Dhanni came away with two gold medals as the European men’s champion in the Viking and trap bar competitions, while Shauna claimed gold as the European women’s champion in the trap bar.

And to top it all off, Shauna was inducted into the World Deadlift Council (WDC) Hall of Fame as the most decorated female in the WDC, holding the most records of any woman.

Their enormous success came at the WDC’s European Championships on Saturday, which were held at the Foundry gym in Paisley.

Just to add to their individual success, both Shauna and Dhanni were also coaching competitors at the event too.

Shauna had a trio of her clients competing, with all three coming away with either Scottish or world records in their respective weight and age categories.

Scott Hatrick, coached by Dhanni, won the Kaos masters 50+ and the overall title on Sunday 2 November.
