THE WEATHER is feeling a fair bit calmer today (Monday) after a more unsettled weekend which saw the north boats cancelled both ways twice.

A BOOK fighting the corner for the seafood industries against critical environmental campaigners and often radical NGOs has been shortlisted for a maritime award.
Published by local author and former fisheries executive John Goodlad, Food from the Sea is one of 36 titles nominated for The Maritime Foundation Award for Best Book 2025.
The award is made to authors is made to the author of a book that has contributed most significantly to public engagement with maritime issues.
Published by the Shetland Bookshop, the company said it was “always great to see a local author in the running for a national award”.
Goodlad added: “I am delighted that my new book has been shortlisted for this prestigious maritime award.”
The awards ceremony will take place on 20 November at Six Park Palace in London.
THE ENERGY company which built the Shetland Gas Plant has filed for administration, putting thousands of jobs at risk.
Petrofac, which employs around 2,000 people, has said its North Sea business will operate as normal despite the news.
The company said it had applied to appoint administrators for its holding company, but that alternative restructuring options were being explored.
Petrofac has a UK office in Aberdeen, and said further information on the administration process would be provided soon.
The energy firm was behind the construction of the £800m Shetland Gas Plant, which was beset by delays and resulted in a major financial hit for the company.
It handed the gas plant over to Total following its completion in 2016.
EASTERN Airways – which operates oil and gas charter flights to and from Sumburgh Airport – is reportedly days away from going out of business.

The airline is believed to have filed for administration.
Eastern Airways has already stopped selling tickets on its website for upcoming flights and all of today’s flights have been cancelled.
SHETLAND mussels were recognised at the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) UK Awards ceremony last week.
Following a public vote, the MSC UK Product of the Year 2025 award went to Waitrose No.1 Moules Marinière with wild garlic and chardonnay, made with rope grown Shetland mussels.
A SHETLAND optician is encouraging drivers in the town to get their eyes checked ahead of the winter months to avoid accidents caused by poor visibility.
Thomas Bruin, optometry director at Specsavers Lerwick, says drivers have to remain “extra vigilant” when it comes to their vision, due to the combination of icy roads, winter sun and shorter days.
It comes after the clocks turned back in the early hours of Sunday.
ST NINIAN’s has come third in a list of Scotland’s best beaches to visit this autumn.
The list – which was topped by West Sands Beach in St Andrews – looked at autumn temperatures, rainfall, sunshine hours and Google review scores.
