News / Hunter and Morrisons’ workforce to transfer over to DITT
HUNTER and Morrisons’ workforce are set to transfer over to DITT Construction Ltd, the companies have announced.
It comes with the imminent retiral of the directors at Hunter and Morrisons, with the company having been founded in 1966.
DITT said that the companies have a “long standing history and excellent reputation in the Shetland construction industry”.
The company said that the departure of Hunter and Morrisons’ directors “was seen as an opportunity” to take on their “highly skilled and loyal workforce”.
Hunter and Morrisons will still be responsible for bringing their current contracts to a conclusion.
DITT commercial director Liam Spence said the move made “perfect sense to both companies”.
And managing director John Tait added: “It is a very satisfying situation when two former competitors can collaborate on a bold deal that provides security of employment for some very capable people and at the same time increase our potential, continuing to tackle major future construction projects in Shetland.”
Hunter and Morrisons’ properties at Whiteness and Blackhill Industrial Estate do not form part of the arrangement, DITT said.
DITT will continue to be based at their current Holmsgarth premises, while their garage, plant maintenance and tool hire will remain at Lower Blackhill Industrial Estate.
