Sport / Texas trip on the cards for strongwoman Shauna after most successful year yet
STRONGWOMAN Shauna Moar has had her most successful year to date in the sport, and now hopes to compete in Texas in November.
Shauna has been competing as a strongwoman for nine years, and this year has focused on competing at the Official Strongman Games (OSG) – the highest level and largest international competition in the sport.
She competed at the official Scotland’s Strongest Woman in March, placing third, with a podium finish that meant she qualified for the British final in May.
There she finished fifth, which meant she progressed on to the European Championships in York earlier this month.
An eighth place finish at the European Championships has earned her an official invite to compete in the world finals in Texas, USA this November.
Shauna will be the first woman from Shetland to compete at OSG World’s Strongest Woman.
She said that at the start of 2025 she had decided she would work towards getting to the world finals this year, adding she has worked very hard to get there.
Shauna also recently opened up publicly about her disability, having been born with hypotonia – which causes significant low muscle tone.
Aged just four, Shauna’s family were told by doctors that she would likely be in a wheelchair as an adult.
Shauna said she was defying all odds and proving that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
She is now raising funds for her Texas trip, courtesy of a JustGiving page set up by her fiancé.
With no full funding in the sport, strongmen and strongwomen rely on sponsorship and donations to get to these events.
Shauna would like to thank her sponsors Moar Doors and Cornerplot Properties for their continued support.
If you would like to donate to her Texas trip you can here.
