In Pictures / Summer solstice sunrise
THANKS to Austin Taylor for sending us this photo of the sunrise in the early hours of yesterday morning (Saturday) on the longest day of the year.
The exact moment of this year’s summer solstice occurred at 3.42am.
This photo was taken at Bight of Vatsland, north of Lerwick.
The weather was a little more serene than overnight from Saturday into Sunday, with thunder and lightning heard and seen around the isles.
