Court / Former Walls swimming pool treasurer admits embezzlement
THE COMMITTEE running the Walls swimming pool are set to get almost £2,000 repaid by former treasurer Regan Peggs over the coming weeks.
Peggs, of Stove, Walls, pleaded guilty to a charge of embezzlement when he appeared at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday.
The 45-year old admitted taking £1,996.01 from the organisation between 1 December 2022 and 28 March 2024.
Defence solicitor Tommy Allan told the court his client was pleading guilty to the charge and asked for the case to be deferred to allow his client to make the repayment.
There was no narration of the facts during Thursday’s court hearing.
Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald agreed to that course of action and deferred conviction until 4 June for Sheriff Ian Cruickshank to consider the case.
Meanwhile a new trial date has been set for 3 July on two drink driving charges, both of which Peggs denies.
