Arts / Session guitarist to deliver masterclass and concert this weekend
THE SERIES of specialist jazz workshops and concerts continues this weekend when guitarist and studio musician Mo Nazam visits the isles.
London based Nazam, described as a ‘guitarist’s guitarist’, will be hosting a workshop at the Islesburgh Community Centre in Lerwick on Saturday at 2pm.
This will be followed by a live concert at the same venue, starting at 7.30pm.
The masterclass workshop is about developing themes, phrasing, string bending and vibrato, scales and chords, playing over jazz standards,” Jeff Merrifield of organiser Jazz and World Sounds Shetland (JAWS).
Saturday’s concert and workshop is the sixth in a series of seven such events put on by JAWS since the beginning of the year.
Speaking about the forthcoming events, Merrifield said: “If you want to learn face to face with a genuine jazz master guitarist, this is the place to come.”
Tickets for both events are priced £10 and are available here.
