Arts / Hogmanay celebration to return to Mareel
MAREEL’s annual Hogmanay celebration will be going ahead this year in-person for the first time since 2019.
There will be two separate ticket options available – one for a variety concert and one for the ‘Hogmanay bells’ in the bar.
The variety concert will run from 7.30pm to 10pm in Mareel’s auditorium and will feature Americana and country music from Shetland acts.
Guests can enjoy a drink and snacks included in their ticket price, with table service running throughout the evening.
The Hogmanay Bells in the Bar will run from 10pm – 2am in Mareel’s café bar and will feature a DJ set from Lyall Halcrow and Brendan Hall of Electric Soup to ring out the old and in the new at midnight and continue the New Year celebrations until late.
Traditional soup and bannocks will be on offer and bar service will be available. Tickets for Hogmanay are going on sale on Thursday (10 November).
A lack of certified door stewards in Shetland was a key factor behind why Hogmanay celebrations did not take place at Mareel at the end of 2021.
