Letters / Open letter to SSE
Dear SSE,
Thank you for sending a circular mentioning that it is now 12 months since I switched my energy supplier from SSE. I have no intention of taking up your invitation to return to your company – my new one has proved vastly superior and, unlike yourselves, treats its customers with respect.
Thank you also for returning the £120 credit that you owed me. I appreciate you are a large company and these things take time – although perhaps nearly a year is a little excessive. Still, it has helped your cash flow at the expense of mine.
My new energy supplier (I mention no names but think of a cephalopod with 8 tentacles) has proved faultless and has sent no outrageous estimated bills with corresponding huge standing order increases. They also believe me when I submit meter readings instead of conjuring even more outrageous estimates out of thin air in response.
Perhaps, while you shuffle this round your comfortable air conditioned offices, you would also pass on my best wishes to the SSE transmission staff who have a genuine responsibility to consumers and work in frequently dreadful conditions to maintain supplies. Thank goodness their regard for customers is better than yours. I hope you treat them with more respect than you do the rest of us.
Yours sincerely,
John Waters
Lerwick
