Business / Grand Hotel sells
THE GRAND Hotel in the centre of Lerwick has now been sold.
The building went on the market last year alongside sister hotel the Queen’s.
Speaking to Shetland News last month, owner George Hepburn – who said he had owned the Grand for “20-odd years” – confirmed the hotel had been sold.
He was unable to offer any information as to what the future will hold for the hotel.
The Grand, situated on the heart of Commercial Street, has over 20 bedrooms and includes the adjoining Posers nightclub.
Both the Grand and the Queen’s hotels are part of Hepburn’s company KGQ Hotels Ltd.
The hotel sector has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic as a result of lockdowns and fewer people travelling.
