News / Zebra barge leaves isles

AN ACCOMMODATION barge which caught the eye with a distinctive zebra-style look has left Shetland after spending five years in the isles.

The Sans Vitesse first arrived in Shetland back in 2013 to house workers as the gas plant was being built at Sullom Voe.

The floatel attracted some criticism, however, for being an “eyesore” while it was moored in the centre of Lerwick, before the striped barge moved to Sella Ness in 2016.

On Sunday afternoon the Sans Vitesse waved goodbye to Shetland as it set sail for Germany.
