News / Something for all at isles’ nature festival this year

Local naturalist Jon Dunn will give the talk Orchid Summer - from Shetland to Scilly at the festival.

THE ORGANISERS of the Shetland Nature Festival have promised “something for everyone” this year.

The programme for the festival, which is taking place between 28 July and 5 August, has now been published online – with tickets also on sale.

There will be a host of events on offer, from talks with the likes of Jon Dunn, Martin Heubeck, Richard Shucksmith and Jonathan Swale to guided tours and coasteering.

All of the days are themed, with titles including marine adventures, Shetland rocks, the crofting life and whales and dolphins.

Shetland Amenity Trust’s natural heritage project officer Paul Harvey said: “Once again we have tried for a schedule that has something for everyone.

“I am particularly pleased that some of Shetland top naturalists – Jon Dunn, Martin Heubeck, Richard Shucksmith and Jonathan Swale – have agreed to give talks covering a diverse range of wildlife subjects.

“This festival also gives us an opportunity to showcase some of the trust’s greatest assets.”
