SCOTLAND’s first female bishop met Shetland’s first female council chief executive on Wednesday as part of a visit to the isles.

Rt Rev Anne Dyer, who covers Aberdeen and the Northern Isles, was appointed to her role in the Scottish Episcopal Church in March.

Maggie Sandison, meanwhile, was given the council’s top job in February.

The meeting was organised by councillor Stephen Leask, who wanted to highlight the issue of gender equality.
