News / Pipework repairs completed

THE PIPELINE systems which were shut down at Sullom Voe Terminal last week for emergency repairs have re-opened.

Operator EnQuest said a “minor defect” was found on 1 May during a routine inspection, which led to the controlled shutdown of the incoming Brent and Ninian pipeline systems.

The issue, which stemmed from the discovery of oily water emerging from the process pipework within the terminal, has now been resolved.

The shutdown caused leading councillors to call for reassurances that the terminal is being operated in a safe manner.

EnQuest took over ownership of the terminal from BP in December last year.
