News / Apprenticeship success
A TOTAL of 55 young people from across the isles completed apprenticeships last year, according to Train Shetland.
Their success was celebrated during an awards ceremony at Train Shetland’s Gremista offices last week.
The organisation manages an apprenticeship programme across several sectors including business services and digital media, children and young people, care, construction, motor vehicle, agriculture and horticulture, hospitality and engineering.
Shetland College board chairman Peter Campbell said: “As part of the council’s long term strategy, we aim to significantly increase the number of apprenticeships available in Shetland and we can’t do that without the co-operation of local employers.”
Over 60 local employers currently support around 130 apprentices in training at any one time.
The full list of successful apprenticeships can be found here.
