Denies two biting assaults

A TWENTY one year old man has denied charges of assaulting a man and a woman by biting them at an address in Lerwick’s Ladies Drive at the weekend.

Kyle Swannie, of the town’s Baklands, is charged with assaulting his former partner on Saturday.

It is alleged that he punched her on the head and body, seized hold of her against a fridge and punched her on the head, seized her by the hair, scratched her on the head and bit her on the body to her injury.

He is also charged with assaulting a man by biting him on the head, striking him on the head with a tumbler and striking him on the head with a sugar pot to his injury.

Swannie pleaded not guilty to both charges when he appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Tuesday afternoon. The case was continued by honorary sheriff Willie Shannon to a trial diet on 12 March with an intermediate diet on 27 February.

He was granted bail with the special condition that he must not attend the Ladies Drive address at which the assaults allegedly took place, and must not approach either alleged victim.
