News / Aith lifeboat nets NorthLink donation
THE AITH lifeboat station has received a £2,500 donation from NorthLink Ferries.
The money was raised from a staff survey which saw a donation made for every completed response.
RNLI Aith coxswain Hylton Henry said: “We are extremely grateful for the donation from NorthLink Ferries.
“The company is a regular supporter of the RNLI and their ongoing donations help us provide much-needed aid to the Shetland community.”
Serco’s managing director of NorthLink Ferries Stuart Garrett said he was “delighted” to hand the money over.
The Aith lifeboat Charles Lidbury, meanwhile, recently returned to Shetland following a refit in Girvan.
It has been fitted with new MTU engines that will make the Severn class lifeboat, which has been in operation since 1998, more fuel efficient.
The boat had been replaced by the Roger and Joy Freeman over the last number of months.
