News / Linga back in service
THE WHALSAY ferry service was reduced to a single vessel on Thursday after the Linga lost power outside Symbister harbour at around 9.15am.
The ferry was on her way to Laxo with 24 passengers and five crew on board when the incident happened.
She drifted for about three minutes and came close to the Symbister shoreline before the crew was able to restore power.
A Shetland Islands Council spokesman said that the ferry safely berthed at Laxo at 9.45am.
She was taken out of service for an initial investigation into what may have caused the power failure but has since returned to service.
