News / Town centre retailers limber up for shopping week
LIVING Lerwick’s shopping week gets underway this weekend with shops aiming to entertain and entice customers with a variety of events and promotions.
It is the third year the town centre has held a shopping week, and Living Lerwick said local businesses had “done us proud this year” to offer “a huge range of entertaining workshops, in-store promotions, demonstrations and great deals”.
The idea is to give people extra reasons to check out what is on offer, and a “fantastic opportunity for the businesses in Lerwick town centre to showcase what they do and what they have for sale”.
It kicks off with a Lerwick Lanes family fun run on Saturday (29 July). There are two modes: competitive – where individuals race a set route – and family, where the adults race the lanes and then tag the child to run the street and back to finish, and where “competitors will also have to contend with the wacky, wild and wet soaking stations”.
Throughout the week a bairns’ photo hunt will run, with lots of prizes donated by town centre businesses.
