News / Younger decides against taking up charitable trust role
LOCAL businessman Malcolm Younger has decided not to take up his role as a new trustee of Shetland Charitable Trust.
In a letter to trust chairman Bobby Hunter the owner of Millgaet Media cited personal reasons for his decision.
Younger’s surprise selection to serve on the £230 million trust had only been announced on Friday.
He said on Monday: “After giving it a lot of thought over the weekend and due to my other personal and private commitments, I feel it would be better for me not to serve on the trust.
“I like to say thanks to the trust to have given me the chance and wish them great success for the future.”
Three other trustees were appointed at the end of last week; they are Drew Ratter, Geoffrey Hay and Margaret Roberts.
