News / Drove without valid licence

A MAN from Lerwick who drove without a valid licence or insurance has been banned from the road for nine months and fined £210.

Chae Coleman, of Hoofields, admitted at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday to carrying out the offence on the A968 in Ulsta, Yell between 3 October and 8 October last year.

The 23 year old also admitted repeatedly shouting, swearing and banging on the front door of a property in Yell before demanding entry.

He also pled guilty to assaulting a woman on 3 October at an address in Yell by seizing a mobile phone from her hand and pushing her on the body, which caused her to fall on a couch.

Sheriff Philip Mann deferred sentence on these two matters until 6 December for Coleman to show good behaviour.

The 23 year old and a woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were also fined £100 for failing to adhere to a special bail condition by contacting each other on 8 November.
