News / Sonny’s curly hair raises over £700 for Disability Shetland
DISABILITY Shetland has thanked a five-year-old boy who raised over £700 by growing his hair “wild and curly” for six months.
Sonny White has so far raised a total of £741 and had his curly locks chopped off after taking part in this year’s Up Helly Aa.
Disability Shetland continues to face a major funding crisis and Sonny’s “very proud” mother Ingrid Sim-White said they felt it was important to support the charity.
“He was in the jarl’s squad and had to grow his hair to be in the jarl’s squad,” she said. “He uses the Saturday club and the holiday club [run by Disability Shetland] and he thought it’d be a good way to raise money.”
Ingrid said Disability Shetland was “really struggling for funds” and they thought it was a good opportuinty to support a charity which is “very important to us as a family”.
