News / SHEAP inspection
SHETLAND Heat Energy & Power Ltd (SHEAP), the company which operates the Lerwick district heating scheme, is asking all of its customers to check their installations after discovering that in some of its equipment the earth bonding may overheat in the event of an electrical fault.
The company said that while the risk of overheating was very low, it will carry out visual inspections of its installation within all properties over coming months.
Director Garry Tait said: “We would urge all customers to check to ensure that nothing is lying against this cable, which is generally white and connects from the programmer used to control the heating to the pump in the heat exchanger.
“If there is any discolouration in this cable, please get in touch with us on (01595) 697111 and we will send out a technician.
“Similarly, if you cannot identify the cable or are unsure of the situation, please do get in touch.”
Any defects found with SHEAP equipment will be rectified at no additional cost to customers.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. However it is important that we ensure that our equipment meets the highest safety standards,” Tait said.
