News / Tinn Lizzy tribute musicians bump into…Thin Lizzy star
TWO members of Shetland tribute band Tinn Lizzy got a pleasant surprise on Monday when they bumped into Thin Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham in their Inverness hotel.
Michael Anderson and John Arthur Poleson are both guitarists themselves in the tribute act, as well as classic rock covers band Stallions of the Highway.
The Whalsay fishermen, who describe themselves as “two o da biggest Thin Lizzy fans”, are in Inverness to see Gorham’s new band Black Star Riders perform live tonight (Tuesday) when they spotted him in the hotel.
“We ended up drinking in the bar with him and most of the band last night. He was a right fine fellow,” Anderson said.
“John Arthur said we played in a band in Shetland and we covered some Thin Lizzy tunes.
“He was happy to hear that, but he seemed more interested to hear about Shetland and the fishing.”
Tinn Lizzy have been somewhat quiet on the local music scene in recent years having previously performed at events such as the Tall Ships in 2011.
