News / Man stole copper wire
A MAN from Brae who admitted stealing at least £14,000-worth of copper wire from a Petrofac yard in Shetland’s North Mainland will learn his fate later this month.
Shaun Hurson, of Lingapund, admitted at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday to stealing the metal from the Sella Ness yard on or between 18 December 2015 and 17 February 2016.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said authorities knew the 25 year old had sold at least £14,000 worth of copper to a scrap merchant, but he might have taken more.
Sheriff Philip Mann called for social work reports and adjourned the case until 29 March.
