News / Plane off the runway at Sumburgh
SUMBURGH airport has now returned to normal operation after having closed earlier on Thursday when a Dornier 328 aircraft went off the runway and onto the grass.
The two pilots were uninjured in the incident. The plane did not have passengers on board.
A spokesman for the airport said the aircraft had been involved in a training exercise when the incident happened at 3.25pm.
Later in the afternoon he added: “I can confirm that the runway was returned to normal operations from 5.45pm this evening.
“The aircraft was removed and normal operations were resumed. The were no flight cancellations due to the incident.”
