News / Theatre show Fisk to explore mental health
A NEW theatre production exploring the theme of mental health is due to visit Lerwick next month.
Fisk, a collaboration between award-winning Scottish theatre company Tortoise in a Nutshell, Stirling’s Macrobert Arts Centre and Danish group Teater Katapult, will take place at Mareel on Tuesday 28 February.
The contemporary show, which is not recommended for people aged under 12, uses the tale of a fisherman alone in the desolate sea as a vehicle to explore “depression, support and interconnection”.
It combines puppetry, movement, design and soundtrack inspired by Nordic and Scottish seascapes to tell the story of a man about to end his life by falling overboard. However, a fish jumps onto his boat and they have an “unexpected impact” on each other.
The Lerwick show will come at the end of a tour that will see the production, which has been funded by Creative Scotland, visit towns and cities such as Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling.
A workshop for young people will also be held in Mareel on Wednesday 29 February to explore the theatrical methods used in the production.
