News / Athletes compete in Hawaii
TWO Shetland athletes did themselves proud at the Ironman world championships in Hawaii last weekend.
Lynsey Henderson and Davie Williamson had both qualified for the event earlier this year after showing strong results at Ironman competitions in Copenhapen and Bolton respectively.
On Saturday, Henderson came 66th in her age class. She was the 335th fastest woman overall.
The 34 year old from Lerwick completed the 2.4-mile long swim, 112-mile long bicycle race and 26.2-mile long run in 11 hours 50 minutes and 34 seconds.
Williamson, who now lives in Aberdeen, meanwhile completed the gruelling course in 10 hours 40 minutes and 6 seconds.
Competing in the 18-24 age division he was 17th in his class and 787th fastest man overall.
