A YOUNG construction worker from Romania has been banned from driving for one year after found to be twice the legal limit when stopped by police in Shetland in early hours of Sunday.
Nelu Nicusor Lupu, with an address of 8 Ringlands, Paisley, was also fined £450 when he appeared from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Monday.
The 22 year old had been in Shetland for work during the week, the court heard.
Lupu pled guilty to a charge of driving a van at Commercial Street, Lerwick with 47 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.
