News / A chance to brush up on your marketing
A SHETLAND born marketing professional has launched a Facebook competition for a local business to win two days of free marketing consultancy.
Megan Burns, who hails from Unst but now lives in Glasgow, said she wanted to give something back to the community she grew up in.
All people need to do is either like and share her competition entry on her Facebook page at www.facebook.com/meganbfreelance or send her a private message via the social media site. The winner will be drawn at 5pm on Friday 23 September.
After graduating in 2014, Megan set up her business and is now working as a freelance marketer in Glasgow.
“Lots of people helped me get to where I am right now, and so I’m running the competition to help give back,” she said.
“I grew up on the islands, and so the foundations of understanding Shetland business is already there.
“People underestimate the importance of marketing until they see the results. I want to be able to help businesses in Shetland achieve the results they are after.”
Since graduating two years ago the 23 year old has worked with many different clients, from major events at Glasgow’s SECC (www.ignitionfestival.co.uk) to small local Shetland groups such as Fetlar Wind Ltd.
She is currently working with Shetland Reel, and is also looking forward to working with major event companies both in London and in Glasgow.
