News / Two medivacs in one trip
SHETLAND Coastguard’s rescue helicopter made two medical evacuations in the same trip on Monday morning.
The coastguard received a call from the French coastguard at 8.22am to lift a crewman from the Bressay Bank fishing vessel 56 nautical miles east of Lerwick.
After the casualty had been picked up from the France-registered vessel, the coastguard helicopter was diverted to collect a sick crewman from the semisubmersible vessel Transocean Leader 75 nautical miles east of Sumburgh.
Both casualties were taken by helicopter to the Clickimin landing site and then transferred to the Gilbert Bain Hospital for treatment.
