News / Hydro & Vodafone faults
SCOTTISH Hydro has apologised after nearly 600 customers in Shetland lost power on Wednesday afternoon.
A total of 570 households in the east of Shetland were affected just after midday.
The power came back at around 12.40pm, but another smaller fault 20 minutes later affected 200 customers for half an hour.
Engineers were still on the site at around 3pm trying to understand the cause of the cuts.
Meanwhile mobile phone operator Vodafone has apologised after customers in and around Brae suffered further disruption between Sunday and Tuesday.
A previous technical fault had left customers without signal for nearly a fortnight from 30 May until 10 June.
A Vodafone spokesman said: “We’re sorry our customers in the area have experienced signal problems over the last couple of days. This was due to a power issue which was fixed earlier today [Tuesday]. Our team continue to monitor the site.”
