News / Three taken to hospital after separate crashes
THREE people were taken to hospital for treatment following two separate road accidents in the central Shetland mainland on Tuesday afternoon.
A motorcyclist and a car driver were both taken to hospital following a collision between a man’s motorbike and a Toyota Rav4 car at the A970 Veensgarth junction.
That caused the road to be closed for over an hour with police diverting traffic through Scalloway and the Tingwall valley. It was reopened just after 2pm.
Later in the afternoon a second accident, involving a bicycle and a motor vehicle, took place near the Brig o’ Fitch junction just north of Lerwick.
The male cyclist sustained injuries in the collision and has also been taken to hospital for treatment.
